Wesley Boyd Hunnicutt was born on January 4, 1951 in Beatrice. He departed this world on July 15, 2021. During Wes's working years, he was employed at the Endicott Brick Yard, and was a carpenter and framer. Wes assisted with the framing work at the Beatrice Public Library in Beatrice in the early 1990's. In 1992, Wes married his soulmate, Nellie Shaw. They were life partners and best friends until her passing in 2018. Wes became a grandpa in 1993 to his very first granddaughter and has since become a grandpa 5 times over. In 2017, he became a great grandpa.\nWes's hobbies included woodworking and making crafts for family and friends, playing his guitar, listening to 1960's music, NASCAR racing, all things sports and spending time with his family. Wes was a first-rate human who will be sorely missed by those who loved him.\nLeft to mourn his passing are his children, Rayma Volkmer of Wymore, Maria Short of Burlington, KS, and Lucas Hunnicutt and their spouses; sisters, Chloe Leet of Manchester, TN and Nelva Straub of Beatrice; brother, Burnell Beal of Pensacola, FL; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family.\nWes was preceded in death by his mother, Luella R. Hunnicutt-Bartles; father, George Hunnicutt; and his sister, Marcia Husa. Also awaiting his arrival in Heaven was his faithful best friend and wife, Nellie.\n Separated by death - Reunited in Heaven\nA memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 13, 2021 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. Inurnment will be at the Mission Creek Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society.
