Viva Lorraine Wrightsman Obituary (1916 - 2012)

Viva Lorraine Wrightsman, age 96 years of Blue Springs died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. She was born January 13, 1916 at Marysville, Kansas and spent her childhood at Oketo, graduating from Oketo High School in 1934. She was employed at the former Paddock Hotel in Beatrice prior to her marriage to Chester V. Wrightsman on August 10, 1940. They farmed near Barneston before moving to Blue Springs in 1953. She had been employed at the former Marshall Produce and in the kitchen at Wymore Public School. She was an Avon representative for many years. Lorraine was a member of the Blue Springs United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers of the church, was a former member of the Y-Teens Mothers' Council, the Avon Presidents Club, and a card club. Her hobbies included cooking and especially spending time with her family. Lorraine is survived by three children, Janice Adams of Blue Springs; Ken Wrightsman and his wife Trish of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Julie Manes and her husband Brad of Lincoln; by a daughter-in-law, Pat Wrightsman of Brandon, South Dakota; by seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; by a sister, Shirley Wikoff of Evergreen, Colorado; by a brother, Larry Remmers and his wife Deanna of North Platte; by a sister-in-law, Mina Schimenti of Omaha, and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Balse Claus and Viva Florence (Stingley) Remmers; by her husband, Chester, on March 30, 1981; by a son, Richard "Dick" Wrightsman; by a granddaughter, Neelee Dawn (Adams) Oltmans; by a son-in-law, Frederick L. Adams and by two brothers, Myrlen "Bud" Remmers and John "Dobber" Remmers. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, 505 North Ninth Street, Wymore. Interment will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:30 P.M. Sunday and until service time on Monday with her family receiving friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Sunday. Memorial to the Blue Springs United Methodist Church Sunday School and the Wymore Good Samaritan Center with the funeral home in charge.
