Velma Marie Crawford

Velma Marie (Overbeck) Crawford of Beatrice, died at her home peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2015. She was 93.

Daughter of Frederick and Maria Overbeck, she was born Nov. 20, 1921, and grew up on a farm near Pickrell. She attended grade school in Pickrell and graduated from Beatrice High School. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. On Nov. 22, 1939, she married Blaine Crawford, and they had four children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband and her youngest son, Leon.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie Ayotte of Beatrice, and two sons and daughters-in-law: Weston and Mercedes Crawford of Lincoln and James and Mary Ann Crawford of Moorhead, Minnesota. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and dozens of great-grandchildren.

Funeral 2:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation is 2-9:00 Friday and 9-noon Saturday at Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. Burial at Evergreen Home Cemetery. Memorial to Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice. Sign her online register book at www.ghchapel.com.
