Terrence Leon Castro, 76, passed away October 5, 2022 in Lincoln Nebraska (was formerly of Clinton Township, Michigan). Born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 22, 1946 to Leon A. and Nina E. (Free) Castro. He graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan. He served in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1967 until 1974, including four years in Rota, Spain. He married Pamela A. Bjornson from Mt. Clemens, Michigan in 1968. After discharge from the service, he and his family settled in Clinton Township, Michigan. Terry retired from DTEnergy in 2001 after 25 years of service, moved to Presque Isle, Michigan and later in Alpena, Michigan before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska to be closer to his family.\nHe had a passion for speed, racing go-karts in Spain, Formula Fords at the Waterford Hills racetrack in Michigan and speed skating later in life. He enjoyed playing racquet sports, squash, tennis, racquetball and pickleball.\nHe is survived by his wife, Pam; sons Thomas Leon Castro from Michigan and Timothy Lee (Krystle) Castro from Maryland; daughter Traci Lynn (Robert) Putt from Nebraska; two brothers, Lundy J. Castro from Michigan, Daniel R. (Karen) Castro from Nebraska; his sister, Patricia Ann (Richard) Deisler from Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Rick) Wager, Kylee Castro, Gavin Castro, Aidan Castro, Emma Castro, Henry Putt, Isaac Putt, Miriam Putt, Bernadette Putt and Azelia Putt; and one great-grandson, Cassius Wager. He was preceded in death by father Leon A. Castro; mother Nina E. (Free); brother Steven G. Castro; and sister-in-law Nancy K. Castro.\nMass of Christian Burial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice. Interment will be in the St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Ossineke, MI at a later date with full military honors. The body will lie in state Sunday from 12-6:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 3-5:00 PM. The Rosary service will be held at 5:00 Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Veterans Administration and Alzheimer's Association with the funeral home in charge.
