Shirley Jeanne (Stoll) Martin passed away on June 7, 2018 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. She was born on July 26th, 1928 in Wymore, NE; the daughter of Frederick and Calista (Willis) Stoll. She graduated from the Wymore High School in Wymore, NE with the class of 1946. She was united in marriage on November 19, 1954 at Wymore, NE to Virgil E. Martin and to this union a daughter, Kimberly, was born. Shirley met Virgil at the movie theater where she worked. She was the chief telephone operator at Lincoln Telephone until Kim was born. She worked as a nurse aid at the Wymore Good Samaritan Home for 14 years, retiring at age 62.\nShirley was an active member of the Wymore Church of Christ until she moved to Omaha in 2005 when she joined the Benson Church of Christ. She hated the city life but loved living in Omaha because that's where her family was. She loved going to any of her great grandchildren's activities, especially baseball games. She also enjoyed watching football, playing cards, reading, knitting, doing sudokus, and visiting with friends and family.\nThose left to cherish her memory include: daughter Kimberly; grandson Caleb and wife Malinda; granddaughter Katie; great grandchildren Braydon, Zachary, Riley, Madalin, Kenton, and Sophie; other close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Calista Stoll; husband, Virgil E. Martin; brother and sister in law, Fredrick and Betty Stoll; sister and brother in law, Patricia and Fritz Clark; sister in law and husband, Helen and Kenneth Harris; brother in law and wife Harry and June Martin and great grandson, Nolan Lincoln.\nIn Shirley's last few months, she was cared for by the Prairie Meadows nursing staff. Her final days were spent at the Hospice House. The family would like to thank them for their love and care.\nA memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Benson Church of Christ, 2704 N 58th St, Omaha, NE 68104, with David Ludwick officiating. Graveside services will take place at 4:00 PM Monday at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore Monday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
