Adams, Nebraska
Sherilee (Sheri) Rae Hibbert, born on November 24, 1958, in Beatrice, Nebraska, graced this world with her loving presence for nearly 68 beautiful years. She passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 in Firth, after a 10-year-long, resilient, and awe-inspiring battle with cancer.
A true Nebraskan at heart, Sherilee spent her entire life in the Filley and Adams area, bringing joy and warmth to everyone she met. She graduated from Filley High School in 1977 and was a dedicated employee for 37 years at the Beatrice Daily Sun. Sheri was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Adams and a beloved member of the Adams community where her faith, love for fun, compassion for others, and hard-working nature were evident to all who knew her.
Sherilee's life was a testament to her belief in the power of family and community. Married to her beloved husband, James Hibbert, since June 27, 1980, Sheri was the proud and loving mother of Amy (Ross) Pfingsten and Allison (Jake) Werger, and her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Ryker, Adley, Mila, Braxtyn, Cortlyn, and Dawsyn. She loved supporting them in their activities, always their biggest fan. Sheri enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was a passionate gardener, and sports enthusiast. She also shared her love of the game by coaching softball, fostering a spirit of teamwork and encouragement.
Though Sheri has been called home, her legacy of love and laughter remains in the hearts of her husband, daughters, and grandchildren along with her brothers, Rodney (Kris) and Kent Dell, sister, Lori (RJ) Luthy, brother-in-law, Larry (Nadine) Hibbert, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Yvonne (Birken) Dell, parents-in-law, Dean and Ruth (Gana) Hibbert, and her grandson, Ryker Pfingsten.
Public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 1-8:00 PM at the American Lutheran Church in Adams with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 PM. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at the church followed by her Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will be immediate following the service at the Highland Cemetery near Adams, and a luncheon will be held at the church afterwards. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
