Ruthelma Williams Obituary (1933 - 2013)

Ruthelma Williams, age 80 years, of Wymore died Friday, June 28, 2013 at her home. She was born March 6, 1933 at Wymore to Amable and Opal (Loftis) DeRoin. Ruthelma was a 1951 graduate of Wymore High School. Following graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. where she was employed as a private secretary for the F.B.I. for two years. She married Edwin Williams on January 9, 1953 at the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C. She and her family resided in Paris, France; Sunnyvale, California; and Taipei, Taiwan before returning to Sunnyvale. They moved to Wymore in 1979. Ruthelma resumed her membership in the Wymore Church Of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, the Wymore Golf Club, the Nighthawks, and served as a volunteer for the Family Unifying Network. Her hobbies included oil painting, sewing, playing golf, playing cards, tap dancing, and doing all types of handiwork. Ruthelma is survived by her husband, Edwin; by a son, Sid Williams and his wife Barb of Wymore; by two granddaughters, Mary Ruth Williams and Wendy Williams both of Wymore; by a stepgrandson, Clark Bejcha of Wymore; by a sister, Dr. Dee Ann DeRoin and her husband, Stephen Ellsworth of Lawrence, Kansas; by two sisters-in-law, Norma "JeJe" DeRoin of Omaha; and Janey Rudder of Wymore; by a brother-in-law, John "Jack" Williams and his wife Kathy of Albion; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Jay Williams (December 18, 2012); by two brothers, Dr. William DeRoin and Robert D. DeRoin; and by a sister, Leona Schappaugh. Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Wymore Church Of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available for signatures at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013.
