Ronald Dean March, 80, of Barneston, NE passed away in Lincoln, NE on Dec. 23rd, 2017. He was born April 23, 1937 to John March and Ruth (Willey) March in Barneston, NE. Ron grew up on his parent's farm and graduated from Barneston High School in 1954. \n \n \nOn December 20, 1958 Ron married Darlene Jean Hubka in Beatrice, NE. Ron and Darlene built their life-time home on the family farm east of Barneston where they raised their three children; Teresa, Ronnie and Rhonda. As a life-long farmer, Ron always enjoyed farming his land and raising hogs and sheep. After retiring from farming, Ron spent many hours assisting Ronnie at the March Auto Body Shop in Barneston. \n \n \nRon served in the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of the Barneston Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Ron had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan and he and Darlene faithfully attended the home games together for many years. Ron and Darlene travelled to Hawaii to watch the Huskers in the 1970's, but one of their fondest memories was attending the 1994 National Championship game at the Orange Bowl in Miami with their daughter, Teresa and her husband, Fred. He also enjoyed rooting on the Kansas City Royals and was thrilled by their 2015 World Series win. For many years he loved his team of Belgium Draft horses, which he used to work areas of his farm. Ron was a big polka music fan and loved attending the Czech Festival in Wilber and performances by the Mollie B Polka band. He counted Ernie Hroch, Sr. as one of his closest friends and often recalled the fun times they had together hunting. \n \n \nRon enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting his children and grandchildren and attending their activities. He was a loving Father and Grandfather. \n \n \nHe is survived by daughter, Teresa (March) Hunzeker and husband Fred of Elkhorn, NE; son, Ronald March and wife Angie (Rinne) of Wymore, NE; daughter, Rhonda (March) Heier and husband Kevin of Macungie, PA; grandchildren, Riley Hunzeker, New York, NY, Carson Hunzeker, Lincoln, NE, Shelby March, Wymore, NE, Austin March, Wymore, NE, Lena Heier, Macungie, PA and Brett Heier, Macungie, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie, his parents, his wife, Darlene (Hubka) March and his grandson, Christopher March. \n \n \nA celebration of Ron's life service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Wymore Presbyterian Church with Reverend James McNeal officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NE. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 11-9:00 PM at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with the family greeting friends from 6-8:00 PM, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Thursday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Thursday at the church. A memorial had been established to the family's choice with Pat Brownawell in charge.
