Adams, Nebraska
Robert "Bob" Edward Delabar of Adams, Nebraska, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 74 years. Born on October 17, 1949, in Beatrice, NE, Bob was a lifelong resident of the Adams area. He graduated from Adams High School in 1967 and, on December 26, 1970, married the love of his life, Beth McPherson. Bob was a man of many talents; not only was he a hard-working farmer, he also worked rotating shifts for the better part of 40 years at Northern Natural Gas Company in Beatrice, retiring in 2012. His colleagues remember him as a thoughtful and supportive figure, always ready to lend a hand.
Bob was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, raising horses, and was especially fond of his dog, Skeeter. His family was his greatest pride and joy. Whether it was summer trip to Branson or a quiet afternoon spent at home, Bob cherished the moments he spent with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids. Bob didn’t know a stranger and was always ready to help a neighbor in need.
He was a member of the Adams United Methodist Church and belonged to a Bible Study Group that included several of his co-workers. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Bob lived this quote every day, touching lives with his kindness and humility. Bob thought it important to call each person by name and to look them in the eye.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Beth, and their four daughters, Kim Barnes of Clatonia, Jill (Alan) Rogman of Tecumseh, Becky (Leo) Wounded Arrows of Adams, and Tracey (Luke) Moore of Munden, KS; his 12 beloved grandchildren Ethan, Isaac, Preston, and Kendra Barnes, BreAnna Rogman, Callie (Donovan) Speer, Emily Lenhoff, Josephina Bacon, Christian, Savannah, and Jacoby Wounded Arrows, and Elizabeth Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Alvin) Buss of Beatrice, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred (Hartwig) Delabar, and his infant sons, Robert Edward and Matthew Donald Delabar.
Bob's funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Adams United Methodist Church. The service will be live streamed or recorded on www.ghchapel.com.
