Richard V. "Dick" Adams Obituary (1940 - 2012)

Richard V. "Dick" Adams, age 71 years, of Wymore died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. He was born November 11, 1940 in Wymore to Frederick and Dixie C. (Atkins) Adams. He attended school in Wymore and then served in the U.S. Navy from November 19, 1957 to November 18, 1963. He resided in Elk Grove, California where he operated a security service. He later was employed in sales for Wonder Bread in Tucson, Arizona. He retired from security services for USAA in Sacramento, California. Dick moved back to Wymore in June 2003. He was a member of Anderson Post #25 of the American Legion at Wymore and was a member several different golf organizations while in California. His hobbies included golfing, fishing for catfish, hunting, the Nebraska Cornhusker football team, and the Dallas Cowboys football team, and he was an avid collector of all cowboy paraphernalia. Dick is survived by sons, Alaric Adams and his wife Jess of Waverly, NE; Richard Adams, Jr. of Arizona; Jeffrey Adams of Texas; Gregory Adams and his wife Kiersten of Phoenix, Arizona; by two daughters, Shelly Richards and Lori Rogers, both of Arizona; by several grandchildren including Jayden and Alexis Adams of Waverly; by a sister, Dianne Heaps and her husband Bob of Peoria, Arizona; by a sister-in-law, Janice Adams of Blue Springs and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, Connie Adam; by a brother, Frederick Lannie Adams; by a niece, Neelee (Adams) Oltmans; and by an infant nephew. Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation at the present time. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, is in charge of arrangements.
