Randall "Randy" W. Diller, 64 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital Tuesday morning, January 28, 2020. He was born on November 2, 1955 in Goshen, Indiana to Donavin and June (Geiger) Diller. Randy spent 5 years (1957-1962) growing up on a Cheyenne Indian reservation with his parents and was baptized at the First Mennonite Church in Phoenix in 1969. He was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School in Phoenix, attended Glendale Community College, received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, and a master's degree from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Randy and Julie Koenig were married in 1982, later divorced and remained very close friends. He had been employed at the Beatrice State Developmental Center for 21 years and taught special education at the Beatrice High School for 19 years having just retired. He was a member of the Beatrice Educational Association, Beatrice Sertoma Club, and the Wymore Country Club. He had been a 7th grade football coach at the Beatrice Middle School for 17 years and enjoyed coaching and volunteering for Special Olympics. Randy enjoyed golfing, reading, gardening and doing yardwork, was an active YMCA member and was an avid Husker and Arizona Wildcat fan. Randy enjoyed time spent with his family, especially following his daughter Kelly to all her Lady O and Hastings College basketball games and loved being the "funny uncle".\nSurvivors include his daughter Kelly Diller of Beatrice; parents Donavin and June Diller of Beatrice; sister Laura Hair and husband Millard of Hornick, Iowa; brother Larry Diller and wife Donna of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his brother Rich and his wife Deb Diller; and son Nicholas.\nMemorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, February 7, 2020 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice with Pastor Brett Klingenberg officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place, but a register book will be available from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2020 with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Beatrice Educational Foundation for the formation of a scholarship in Randy's memory with the funeral home in charge.
