Phyllis Doyle

–

Beatrice, Nebraska

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Phyllis Wardene (Finch) Doyle, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on June 19, 2024. Phyllis was born on January 9, 1934, in Odell, NE, and a long-time resident of Beatrice, Nebraska. She was a graduate of Odell High School, and attended Lincoln School of Commerce. Phyllis and Dean Doyle were married on June 12, 1955. Phyllis was a courageous, passionate, and loving woman who lived her life with grace and strength.

Phyllis was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an executive secretary at the State Capital, owned and operated the Rolla Rena in the 1970s, and helped in Dean's dental practice for a number of years. Phyllis enjoyed many hobbies and interests which included her passion for animals, especially her cats, bowling, golfing, playing bridge, traveling, and cheering on the Huskers and KC Royals. Her community service was extensive, as she was a member of Mrs. Jaycees, active in 4-H and had been a 4-H leader, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Her religious involvement was a testament to her faith; she was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she had been president of the UM Women, served on various committees, and was a member of the Elizabeth Circle. Recognized in her teens as Aksarben Dairy Queen with her show cow Rosebud, Phyllis was a woman of many achievements. However, what mattered most to Phyllis was her family. In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart," and Phyllis' love for her family was indeed felt deeply in their hearts.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Eldene Doyle and her husband Don Greer of Milwaukee, WI, Deborah Cass and her husband Tom, and Tim Doyle, all of Beatrice; her grandchildren, Katie (Jackson) Ellis, Jeff Cass, Patrick (Ashley) Doyle, Ian Doyle; and step grandchildren Bryan (Nikki) Greer, and Becky (Joshua Alonzo) Greer; 3 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Doyle in 2019; parents, Ward and Hazel (Hemminger) Finch; and siblings, Dorothy (Myrlan) Doyle and Don (Beverly) Finch.
