Phyllis Barrett, 72 years of age of Beatrice passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Omaha after battling a debilitating illness that her body could just not overcome. Her passing occurred just hours after a truly unexplained "rally day" where she was able to be miraculously present surrounded by a rare occurrence of all three of her girls together. This was a euphoric day filled with memories, laughter, thank-you's, good byes, no regrets, and a love that only a mother knows. We are blessed to have been embraced by the presence of heavens gates opening for her. She was born on February 9, 1947 in Hastings to Duane and Cora Alice (Thompson) Watts. She graduated from Hastings High School and received a bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska. She had worked at Mosaic and BSDC for many years. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her animals, diet Dr. Pepper, and spending time outdoors anyway she could. Being a foster grandparent gave Phyllis a new meaning for life and she loved every second of it.\nSurvivors include her daughters, Heather (Shane) McLaughlin of Emporia, KS, Tiffany (Vince Knee) Barrett of Beatrice, and Sydney (Barrett) Glanz of Lincoln; son David Downie of Omaha; 2 grandchildren Casei Grybko and Billy Jaeger; sisters Karen Rae (Jack Bowe) Hanna of Hastings, and Jannie Watts of California; nephew Mark (Debbie) Hanna of Reno; and her cat Spirit.
