Myrvin "Dan" Hager, a humble man of valor, was born on May 15, 1948, in Parkers Prairie, MN and passed away at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society on August 6, 2026. Born to Alfred Hager and Vivian Stewart, Dan was a cherished son who grew up to be a loving and devoted husband to Margaret "Sissy" Mick, whom he married on February 11, 1989. His legacy of love and belief in the power of family remained at the core of his existence throughout his life.
Dan served his country in the United States Army. He served from 1965-1968 in Germany where he was a tank mechanic and then was deployed in Vietnam for 22 months as a combat engineer and heavy equipment operator, roles requiring strength, precision and resilience. Dan was awarded a Quilt of Valor hours before his passing, giving he and his family both comfort and honor for his courageous service to his country.
Dan was not just a man, but a force of nature. His work as a heavy equipment operator for construction companies as well as gold and copper mines required precision and diligence. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included fishing, camping, and riding Harleys. Dan was also a skilled craftsman, restoring cars and creating wooden crafts with his loving hands. A lifetime member of the Veterans Club in Sturgis, South Dakota, and a proud member of the Anderson Post American Legion #25 in Wymore, Dan was a man of honor who dedicated his life to service.
Dan was a man of unique qualities, a man who was both courageous and humble, reliable, and ever loyal. His life was a testament to these traits, and his memory will forever be a source of inspiration for all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sissy of Wymore; sons, Dan Hager and Michael Latham; daughters, Danjea Hall, Denna Schowalter and Tammy Hager; 9 grandchildren; 9 great granchildren; brother, Babe (Patti) Hager; brothers-in-law, Al Harp, Robert Mick, and Ronald (Phyllis) Mick; sisters-in-law, Joan Powell, Terry (Jerry) Smith; chosen family, Erin Linn and her children, Olivia and Levi Sauer; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
