Melvin L. Kuper Obituary (1938 - 2013)

Melvin L. Kuper, 74 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Tuesday morning, May 7, 2013. He was born on September 6, 1938 at Odell, NE to Paul and Dorothea (Morgan) Kuper and they lived on a farm southwest of Diller until moving to Beatrice in 1951. He was a 1956 graduate of Beatrice High School. Melvin served his country as a member of the Nebraska National Guard Company C; 134 Infantry from 1957 until 1967. He had been employed as a Bridge Inspector for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He was past District Training Chairman for scout masters for the Cornhusker Council of Boy Scouts. Melvin was a member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice and had served as the church Treasurer. He was a member of the Beatrice Masonic Lodge #26, AF & AM; Blue Valley Shrine Club; Sesostris Shrine; and Vesper Chapter #9, OES. Survivors include his niece Teresa Kuper of Lincoln; nephew LaVern Kuper of Utica, IL; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Dorothea (Morgan) Kuper; and brother and sister in laws Richard and Betty Kuper and Robert and Marjorie Kuper. Memorial graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery with Reverend Doyle Karst officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place, but a register book will be available for signatures Monday from 9-5:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
