Maria A. Vater, age 84 of Wymore passed away at her home on February 3, 2018. She was born on October 1, 1933 in Agat, Guam to Vincente and Conception (Carbullido) Acfalle. She married Larry Vater on May 28, 1960 in Agana, Guam. She enjoyed needlepoint and embroidery, quilting, cooking, playing cards, making Christmas trees from wire hangers, collecting porcelain dolls, and watching western movies. She especially loved her grandchildren.\nSurvivors include her children, Benny Acfalle of Omaha, Linda Schultze and husband Dan of Wymore, Sally Buesing and husband Todd of Fremont, Rose Stephens and fiance Kevin Moore of Fremont, and Tim Vater and wife Nicole of Odell; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Ling, Julia, and Rosa; brother, Joe; sister-in-law, Hazel Jansen; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Vater; one brother and two sisters.\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore with Father Ferdinand Boehme officiating. A family prayer service will begin at 1:45 PM. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, and a rosary service will begin at 7:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
