Mary Siebels Obituary (1922 - 2011)

Mary Siebels, age 89 years, longtime Wymore resident, went to be with her Savior on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. She was born August 3, 1922 on a small farm outside of Slawa, Alberta, Canada to Dimetre and Kate (Dach) Nahorniak. Her father died when she was very young, and when Mary was able to leave the farm she worked as a waitress in Edmonton. While working there she met an American serviceman named Harry Siebels whom she married and left her Canadian homeland and moved to the United States. She and Harry later divorced. Mary made due with a cheerful heart and raised her two daughters to the best of her ability. Her commitment and quiet demeanor earned their respect, love, and loyalty. Mary was busy with her hands, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, raising flowers, and just busy at heart. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at the former Formfit plant at Beatrice, and worked as a waitress at the former Blue Bonnet Cafe in Wymore. Following her retirement she was employed part-time at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beatrice. Mary is survived by her daughters, Marlene Timke and husband, Larry of Beatrice; and Kathy Salts-Roche of Wymore; by a granddaughter, Lori Salts of Wymore; by two brothers, Harry Nahorniak; and George Nahorniak and his wife Arleen; by a sister, Jean Bowen, and many nieces and nephews, all from Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Bill Nahorniak and his wife Ann; by a sister Anne Petrosky and her husband Jake; by a brother-in-law, Bill Bowen; and by a nephew, Bobby Bowen. Private family service will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 with Chaplain Doyle Karst of Aseracare Hospice officiating. Interment at the Wymore Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial to the family with the funeral home in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, is in charge of arrangements.
