Lorene A. Frerichs Obituary (1925 - 2017)

Lorene A. Frerichs, 91 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at her home at The Kensington in Beatrice Wednesday evening, January 11, 2017. She was born on April 11, 1925 near Pickrell, NE to Avid and Sadie (Reins) Ewers. She attended country school at Highland Center and District #64 near Cortland, and grade school and high school at Cortland, NE. Lorene and Delmer Frerichs were married from 1941-1953. She had worked at the Burwood and Paddock Hotel Coffee Shop, Holiday Inn, the Eagles, American Legion and VFW Clubs, Formfit Rogers for 12 years, Beatrice State Developmental Center, and Home Health and Companions from 1993 until she retired. Lorene was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Survivors include 3 children; Robert Frerichs of Lincoln, Karen Hawkins of Lincoln, and Gary Frerichs and his wife Cindy of Beatrice; 9 grandchildren Jeanne Lamb and husband David, Julie Searle, Kate Williams, Chad Frerichs, Cass Salmon and husband Matthew, Todd Frerichs and wife Tonya, Dr. Nicole Hawkins, Dana Thurman and husband Justin, and Shelby Stewart and husband Jeff; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Avid and Sadie (Reins) Ewers, daughter Carolyn Toomey, son Roger Frerichs, infant daughter Janet Charlene, and sisters Emma Ideus and Margie Ewers. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Jon Palmquist officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place, but a register book will be available Sunday from noon-6:00 PM, and Monday after 9:00 AM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
