Kenneth A. Lytle (Ken) was born on December 5, 1938 to Carl Sampson and Helen (Siebolts) Lytle. He and his parents lived on a farm while very young and spent his youth in Odell, Nebraska where his family moved. He attended high school in Odell, and after graduation owned a cafe in Odell for a short time. His next step was working at a hatchery in Beatrice where he met the love of his life Deanna Crone. They married in 1960 and moved to Odell. Ken attended business school in Lincoln, which allowed him to begin a 40-year career at ISO (Insurance Service Office). Not long after the launch of his career, Ken and Deanna started their family. Paul (married to Kathy, sons Ben, Mitchell, and daughter Bailey) and Sherri (twin sons Garrett and Casey). Ken and Deanna have two great grandchildren (Brecken and Graham) that Ken would comment "how much energy those little guys have." His family always came first, but he would give his last dollar to a friend or stranger in need.\nKen and Deanna are members of Saint Marks Methodist Church in Lincoln. He enjoyed the sermons of Senior Pastor Wayne Alloway and had a deep faith in Christ and life everlasting. He looked forward to his many friends and fellowship his church family provided.\nKen had a passion for people and serving the needs of children. He enjoyed donating blood (nearly 20 gallons) to help others in need. He served as one of the train engineers at the Lincoln Children's Zoo when he delighted in the joy those rides provided his younger passengers. His passion was Kiwanis where he served as a long-time member and club President.\nThe Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Southeast provided him with the opportunity to hand out awards to "Terrific Kids." That became the highlight of his time in Kiwanis. The children at College View Academy would swarm and greet him as Mr. Lytle. He would hand out the Terrific Kids awards to the children that had established goals with their teachers and achieved them through their own efforts. Terrific Kids is a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.\n"Terrific" is an acronym for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.\nStudents work with their classroom teacher to establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or schoolwork.
