Joyce R. Jenkins, age 70, of Wymore passed away on November 1, 2018 at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, Kansas. She was born in Wymore on January 21, 1948 to Robert S. and Elaine R. (Duensing) Mick. She attended Wymore High School. On September 23, 1973, she was united in marriage to Don C. Jenkins. She worked at both Beatrice State Developmental Center and Grandma's Fruit Cakes in Beatrice. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wymore and the Altar Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In her younger years, she and her siblings enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, dancing and playing baseball with the neighborhood kids. She also enjoyed shopping, and spending time in Arizona attending spring training games and horse races.\nShe is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don of Wymore; daughter, Shelly Jenkins and Noah French of Good Year, Arizona; siblings, Shirley Waltke and husband Wayne of Beatrice, David Mick and wife Hope of Wymore, and Susan Laber and husband Fred of Blue Springs; 16 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Charles and Evelyn Jenkins, and numerous aunts and uncles.\nMass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore with Father Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Friday, November 9, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 PM until the time of the Rosary at 7:00 PM, and in state one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A memorial has been established to the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Frankfort Community Care Home with the funeral home in charge.
