John D. Wiegand, 76 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln on Saturday, October 26, 2019. He was born on January 10, 1943 in Beatrice to Henry and Mildred (Claus) Wiegand and lived in Beatrice his entire life. John was a 1960 graduate of Beatrice High School and attended SCC in Milford, NE. John served his country in the United States Marines from June 29, 1960 until April 30, 1963. He owned and operated JW Auto Body Shop until he retired in December of 2009. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. John enjoyed refinishing furniture, painting race cars, motorcycles, and boating.\nSurvivors include 3 sisters, Anne Turnbull of Grand Island, Lucille Hoffman of Lincoln, and Mary Buss and husband Ed of Hastings; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Barbara Brott; and 2 nephews and 1 niece.\nMemorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Inurnment will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice with military honors provided by the United States Marines. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
