John R. Carmichael Obituary (1944 - 2016)

John R. Carmichael, 71 years of age, of Wymore passed away at the Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln Monday night, February 22, 2016. He was born on September 29, 1944 in Beatrice to James and Theda (Brown) Carmichael. He had served in the Nebraska National Guard for several years. John and Carol Hormandl were married on May 10, 1969. John was self employed and had served many families in many of the area cemeteries. He was a member of the Blue Valley Antique Tractor Club and the Nebraska /Kansas Cushman Club. He enjoyed racing, helping at the race track, and helping people whenever he could. Survivors include his wife Carol; children Holly Carmichael of Wymore, and Hugh Carmichael and his significant other Ronda Mewes of Blue Springs; 1 grandson Brandon Carmichael of Blue Springs; sisters and brothers Carolyn Janssen and husband Dennis of Lincoln, Dixie Janssen and husband Gary of Waverly, David Carmichael and wife Shawny of Beatrice, Betty Mulford of Sun City, Arizona, Shirley Alsman of Council Bluffs, and Mary Darnell and husband Bill of David City, NE. John was preceded in death by his parents James and Theda (Brown) Carmichael, brother and sisters Vernon Carmichael, Elinor Shaw, and Donald Titus. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiating. Interment will be in the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state Saturday from 10-9:00 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore and at the church one hour preceding the service on Sunday. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 PM Sunday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
