Jeraldine "Jeri" L. Stiefvater, age 89, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019. She was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on March 23rd, 1930 to Harold and Elva (Horton) Sanford. Jeri graduated from Beatrice High School in 1947. She later married Joe E. Stiefvater in 1949, two children were born from this marriage; Debra and Jeffry; they later divorced. She worked as a Nurse Aid at the former Lutheran Hospital for over 20 years, then she was a Shipping Clerk at Hoover/Tote Systems for 32 years, retiring in 1999. \nJeri's hobbies included water skiing, bowling, softball, and dancing. Jeri had been a member of Christ Church Episcopal, was attending First Christian Church, and was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary in Beatrice. She loved old western movies, with John Wayne being her favorite. Later in life she enjoyed being outside doing yard work, hitting golf balls, having tomato fights and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeri was a friend to everyone she met; she enjoyed buying lottery tickets and chatting with the girls at Git-N-Split and Casey's. She always looked forward to the Red Beer Friday tradition with family and friends. \nSurvivors include her daughter, Debra (Leroy) Dinslage, Garland, Nebraska; son, Jeff (Deb) Stiefvater of Beatrice; six grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Krystal) Dinslage, Columbus; Scott (Teagan) Dinslage, Garland, Nebraska; Cody Stiefvater and special friend Amber Bauman, and Kenzie (Joel) Brueggemann, all of Beatrice; great-grandsons, Matthew John Dinslage, Columbus, and James Brueggemann, Beatrice; great-granddaughters, Izel Bauman, Beatrice, Monica Dinslage, Columbus, Karly Stiefvater and Jordyn Brueggemann, Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elva Sanford, her brother and sister in law, Kenneth (Norma) Sanford.\nFuneral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend David Bigley officiating. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 10:00 - 8:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 5:00-6:30 PM, and Wednesday until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to Parkinson's Research with the funeral home in charge.
