Jean DeGaetano, 97 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska, formerly of California passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Monday morning, February 8, 2021. Jean was born on August 20, 1923 in Newton-Le-Willow, Lancashire England to William and Beatrice (Platt) Marsh, and educated in England obtaining her teaching credentials at Wrexham College in North Wales. She taught school in England, married an American serviceman Pietro DeGaetano, came to the United States in 1952 and became an American citizen in 1953. Jean taught school for the United States Army on Okinawa, taught school in Maine and Dependent School in England. When stationed at George A.F.B. in California Jean was the first kindergarten teacher at St. Timothy's School in Apple Valley and the director for almost 10 years. While in California Jean was a member of the St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and had attended Christ Church Episcopal in Beatrice. \nJean is survived by two daughters Jean Ramsey of Beatrice and Nina Allen of Marysville, WA; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Pietro; and brother Herbert Marsh.\nJean's wishes are to be cremated in Nebraska with her ashes buried with her husband Pietro at Riverside National Cemetery in California.
