Harvey E. H. Rohe Obituary (1922 - 2013)

Harvey Ernst Heinrich Rohe, 90 years of age, of R. Pickrell, NE passed away at his home Thursday morning, September 26, 2013. He was born on October 18, 1922 near Clatonia, NE to Carl and Louise (Holsing) Rohe. Harvey attended school at District 42 near Clatonia, and was a 1940 graduate of Clatonia High School. He and Dorothy Helmke were married on June 1, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beatrice. They lived on the Rohe family farm 2 miles south of Clatonia for 44 years before moving to their present home 3 miles north of Pickrell, NE in 1990. Harvey was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran (Soap Creek) Church, R. DeWitt, was a member of the committee to build the current church building, and held several positions at the church; and in 1948, when he was Sunday School Superintendent, Harvey helped build the outdoor nativity manger. Harvey and Dorothy enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, horse shoes, and going to the car races. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; 2 sons, Robert Rohe and wife Nancy of Beatrice and Richard Rohe and wife Betty of Clatonia; 5 grandchildren Chris Rohe and wife Audra, Kimberle Broker and husband Ryan, Jenna Colbert and husband Chris, Emily Haxby and husband Justin, and Kayte Rohe; 7 great grandchildren; and sister Alice Hasenohr and husband Ray of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Louise (Holsing) Rohe; step mother Anna Rohe; and 2 sisters Edna Pohlmann and Gladys Blobaum. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 30, 2013 at the St. Paul's Lutheran (Soap Creek) Church, R. DeWitt with Reverend Richard Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, R. DeWitt. The body will lie in state Sunday from 12-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 4-5:00 PM, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Monday. A memorial has been established to the church with Ron Pohlmann and Myron Helmke in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Monday at the church.
