Glena E. Hasenohr Obituary (1926 - 2014)

Glena E. Hasenohr, 87 years of age, of DeWitt passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014. She was born on December 11, 1926 at Garrison, NE to Louis and Katrina (Miller) Hanner, and was raised by Anna and Henry Hemsath. She was baptized at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Garrison by Reverend Summers. Glena and Alvin A.H. Hasenohr were married on February 22, 1955 in Lincoln and moved to DeWitt at that time. Glena ahd worked at the Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln for 7 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt and had been a member of the choir and a 40 year member of the Charity Circle and had served as chairman for many years; former 4-H Leader; former member of the Oak Grove Cemetery Board; former member of the Farm Bureau; and member of the Extension Club since 1976. Glena enjoyed farm work, oil painting and drawing, gardening, flowers, yard work, and dogs. Survivors include her daughters Lori Cox and husband John of DeWitt, LaNette Hasenohr and husband Peter Soukup of Lee's Summit, MO, and Lisa Sherman and husband Daniel of Omaha; 4 grandchildren Jayme Cox, Carlye and Chelsea Sherman, and Kale Soukup; and sister Vera Sercl of Lincoln. Glena was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Katrina (Miller) Hanner; foster parents Anna and Henry Hemsath; husband Alvin Hasenohr (2003); infant daughter Dawn; and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt with Reverend Ken Kramer officiating. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt. The body will lie in state Thursday from 1-8:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, Friday from 2-9:00 at the Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in DeWitt, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Saturday. A memorial has been established to the church and the Oak Grove Cemetery with the funeral home and church in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Saturday at the church.
