Gerhardine H. Reed Obituary (1938 - 2013)

Gerhardine H. Reed, 75 years of age, of Beatrice passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, November 10, 2013. She was born on October 11, 1938 in Pickrell, Nebraska to Herman and Friedereke (Gronewold) Rademacher, and was a 1956 graduate of Filley High School. She had worked at Boogarts and had been a housekeeper at Beatrice Community Hospital, Parkview Center, and the Beatrice Manor before her retirement. Gerhardine and William J. Reed were married on June 4, 1988. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice and past member of the Lydia Circle; and was a Foster Grandparent at Kiddie Campus and for the MOPS program. She enjoyed talking to friends, driving around, having breakfast with friends at McDonalds, garage sales and Thrift shops, watching Wheel of Fortune, attending grandchildren's activities, and collected jewelry and angels. Survivors include 2 daughters; Donna Kyker of Lincoln and Donita Dorf and husband Melvin Jr. of Beatrice; son Dale Kyker and Mary Beach of Beatrice; grandchildren Emily, Elizabeth and Katie Dorf, and Shawn Kyker; brother Renald Rademacher and wife Rene' of Pickrell; sisters in law Claye Bence and husband Glen of Wymore and Marceline Rademacher of Beatrice; and family friend Karen Jurgens of Lincoln; and several cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Friedereke (Gronewold) Rademacher; husband William (1992); and brothers Daniel and Walt Rademacher. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Gabriel and Ernest Waltke, PMA officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, R. Pickrell, NE. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 1-9:00 with the family greeting friends from 6:30-8:00 PM, and Wednesday from 9-12:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, and at the church one hour preceding the services on Wednesday. A memorial has been established to the family with Laverne and Marilyn Dissmeyer in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 PM Wednesday at the church.
