George Riemann, Jr., age 79 years, of Beatrice died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Bryan-LGH Medical Center West in Lincoln. He was born April 24, 1932 on a farm near Barneston, spent his childhood in that area, and was a 1949 graduate of Barneston High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. George married Karolyn Watson on Oct. 23, 1971 in Blue Springs. He was a truck driver for 21 years, owned a tavern in Wymore, and, together with his wife, owned and operated Riemann's Clothes Closet in Wymore until their retirement in 1983. They moved to Beatrice from Wymore in 2002. George was a member of Barneston American Legion Post #356, coached baseball and softball for forty years, including the Wymore American Legion Baseball Team, Wymore Little League, and the Barneston Ladies Softball team. He recorded and witched cemeteries throughout the local area, and was a wonderful joke and story teller.\n\nGeorge is survived by his wife, Karolyn; by five children, Terry Riemann of Beatrice; Danny Riemann of Oklahoma; Natalie Fedinets of Kansas City, MO; Nancy Jaeger of Las Vegas, NV; and Laura Roseleip of Washington State; by five stepchildren, Sara Weixelman of Lincoln; Anne Thomsen of Beatrice; Debra Jones of Wymore; Jody Schmidt of Beatrice; and Charlie\nReiff of Beatrice; by 11 grandchildren, and nine step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Edith (Brown) Riemann; one great grandson, Dylan Jones; and by three sisters.\n\nThere will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be at Our Savior's (St. John's) Cemetery, west of Barneston at a later date. Memorial to the Salvation Army, 624 Market Street, Beatrice, NE 68310.
