Gary Lou Neumann

Gary Lou Neumann, 70, of Blue Springs, NE passed away in Lincoln on Thursday December 10, 2015. He was born on Christmas Day 1944 in Odell to Ralph and Mary (Pruitt) Neumann. Gary graduated from Odell High School in 1963, and went on to graduate from Peru State College in 1967. During his time at Peru State, he met Verona Borcher, and they were married on August 15, 1966. To Gary and Verona, two sons were born, Michael and Timothy. He taught school first in Filley from 1969 - 1998, and then in Freeman from 1998 - 2006, where he retired. Gary taught Social Sciences, and computer courses. Gary had a fondness for collecting, and had a large collection of tractors, guns, and was a member of the Blue Valley Antique Club. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 90, and also enjoyed wood working, deer hunting, fishing, and camping. Between school years, Gary would paint houses. Gary and Verona lived for the majority of their lives in Blue Springs, where he spent over 20 years on the Blue Springs City Council.

Survivors include his wife, Verona, of Blue Springs, sons, Michael Neumann, and wife, Patrice, of Denton, and Timothy Neumann, and wife, Johnna, of Filley, grandchildren, Katelyn, Krystal, Danyelle, and Josh Neumann, and fiance Zoe Gengenbach, and sister, Mary Neumann, of Lincoln. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Neumann, mother, Mary Hunzeker, step-father, Leland Hunzeker, and brother, Ralph Neumann, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday December 15, 2015 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. Interment will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery following the service. The body will lie in state Monday from 1:00 - 9:00 PM, with family greeting friends from 6:30 - 8:00 PM, and until the service on Tuesday.
