Gary D. Jurgens

Gary D. Jurgens, 62 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln Friday evening, November 7, 2014. He was born on April 8, 1952 in Beatrice to David and Phyllis (Seckman) Jurgens. He had lived in Beatrice his entire life and was a 1970 graduate of Beatrice High School. Gary had been employed by Petersen Manufacturing and Erwin Tool. He enjoyed NASCAR, Husker football, fishing, and collected knives and coins. Gary especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son William Jurgens and wife Melisa; daughter Shellie Jurgens, all of Lincoln; grandchildren Cody Jurgens, Brittany Zeiger, and Sukara Jurgens-Red Feather; 3 brothers Tom Jurgens and wife Carol of Lincoln, Dave Jurgens of Omaha, and Ron Jurgens and wife Susie of Beatrice; sister Sandi Hixson and husband Chuck of Chariton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Phyllis (Seckman) Jurgens.

Funeral Services (Casual Dress Suggested) will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Reverend Gregory Gabriel officiating. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 1-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 5-8:00, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Thursday. A memorial has been established to the family to help with expenses with the funeral home in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 AM Thursday at the church.
