Gary L. Franzen, 60 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Lincoln Heart Hospital Friday morning, January 11, 2019. He was born on August 11, 1958 in Odell to Edward and Esther (Bartels) Franzen. He received an associate's degree from Southeast Community College in Beatrice, and was the owner and operator of GL Franzen trucking. Gary and Jolene Franzen were married in August of 1998 and later divorced. Gary served his country as a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard based in Beatrice for many years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell, and the Odell American Legion Club. Gary enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, and spending time with his grandchildren.\nSurvivors include his life partner Jolene Franzen of Beatrice; children Jess Franzen of Wymore, Rebecca Pralle and husband Jason of Beatrice, Matthew Harre and wife Brittany of Wilber, and Ashley Nicholson of Beatrice; 8 grandchildren Andrew, Alicia, Ryan, Chance, Adrian, Haylee, Scarlett and Killian; brothers Gene Franzen, Roger Franzen and wife Diane, and James Franzen and wife Kim; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.\nMemorial services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Pastor Jon Palmquist officiating. Burial will take place at the Odell Cemetery at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
