Frieda M. Lyons, 96 years of age, of Beatrice received her wings early Tuesday morning, January 23, 2018 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on June 7, 1921 near Crab Orchard, NE to Herman and Anna (Wehmer) Weyers, and graduated from Crab Orchard High School in 1939. Frieda and Norval Lyons were married on March 1, 1941 in Marysville, KS and moved to Beatrice in 1946. She had been a housekeeper over the years for many people in Beatrice. Frieda enjoyed visiting with friends, cooking, her dogs, and listening and calling into the Birthday Line on KWBE radio. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.\n \nSurvivors include several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Spady and husband Chris, Connie Spady and husband Dave, and Shirley Wolken and husband LaVern, all of Beatrice; and several great and great great nieces and nephews. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norval Lyons (2003); sisters Marie Rulla and Erna Sorenson; brothers Herbert, Emil and Gustav Weyers; and brother in law Arlis Lyons.\n \nIt was Frieda's wishes to be cremated and to have no visitation or public services, and that her ashes be buried at the Crab Orchard Cemetery at a later date. Sign Frieda's online guestbook at www.ghchapel.com.\n \nThese services have been entrusted to the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
