Fentje Arlyne Saathoff Obituary (1921 - 2014)

Fentje Arlyne Saathoff, 93 years of age, of Marysville passed away at the Cambridge Place in Marysville Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2014. Fentje was born January 19, 1921 to John and Margerita (Antons) Trauernicht in the farm home near Wymore. She was baptized at St John Lutheran Church on March 06, 1921 and confirmed on July 18, 1937. Fentje's life was spent in loving and nurturing her husband Walter H Saathoff and her three daughters; Joyce Price, Colleen Walpert and Susan Kosar. She was a skilled nurse who willingly gave of herself for the good of others. Fentje began her nurses training just after high school when she was 16 years old and continued with her chosen profession until she was in her early 80's only taking off time to raise her daughters to school age. Fentje and Walt were married at St John Lutheran church September 7, 1947 and they enjoyed a caring relationship for 65 years. While he was in the Air Force, Fentje lived the air force wives' life, moving from base to base with him. In their later years Fentje and Walt settled in Marysville, where they enjoyed their home and friends. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran (State Line) Church, R. Wymore. Fenjte was passionate about growing flowers and traveling; but most of all she enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Fentje was preceded in death by her three sisters; LaVerna Williams and husband Clyde, Dorothy Littrell and husband Paul, Verda Essam and husband, Don; an infant brother, John Jr.; and a great grandchild Austin Dettwiler. She is survived by her three daughters; Joyce Price and husband John of Portland OR, Colleen Walpert and husband Bob of Shell Knob, MO, and Susan Kosar and husband Nick of Marysville KS; Six grandchildren, Christina Price Dettwiler and husband Steve, Scott Price and wife Montana, David Price and wife Jenny, Michael Price and wife Nichol , Benjamin (Brock)Walpert and wife Julia, and Timothy (TJ) Walpert; Five great grandchildren, Autumn Detwiler, Kaylee and Jack Price, Mateo and Juniper Price and Sydney Walpert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran (State Line) Church, R. Wymore with Reverend Rob Garton officiating. Interment will be held at 10:15 AM Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 11-9:00 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral home in Wymore with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 Wednesday, and not at the church on Thursday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 AM Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
