Everett Sterling Stevens 73 passed away March 16, 2019 in Lincoln, NE. He was born April 15, 1945 in Beatrice to Elsie and Norman W. Stevens. He was the grandson of Eugene S. Stevens founder of the E. S. Stevens Wholesale Grocery Company. Everett graduated from Beatrice High School in 1963 and Doane College in 1968. Upon graduation he entered the Navy and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician aboard the U.S. Constellation Aircraft Carrier working on helicopters during the Vietnam War. He served from in the Navy from December 4, 1968 until August 3, 1974. After serving in the Navy he resided in the San Diego, California area working for the California Parks and Recreation Department and the San Diego Wildlife Park. Upon being diagnosed with dementia Everett returned to Beatrice in 2014 and the last 2 years resided in a memory care facility in Lincoln. \nHe is survived by his sister, Vernita Faye Stevens Bramwell (Gary), one nephew Forest (Jaclyn) Bramwell all of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and one niece Cortney Jean Bramwell of Eagle River, Alaska.\nGraveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Navy and the Beatrice American Legion Club. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
