Dorothy L. Dean, 95 years of age, of Beatrice passed away with her family by her bedside at the Beatrice Health and Rehab Sunday night, November 17, 2019. She was born on April 12, 1924 near Morrowville, KS to George and Rose (Kozel) Spring and was a 1943 graduate of Washington High School in Washington, KS. Dorothy and Glen E. Dean were married on February 25, 1943 in Marysville, KS. She had lived in Creston, IA and Fairbury before moving to Beatrice over 50 years ago. Dorothy had been employed at J.C. Penney in Beatrice for 20 years and was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, traveling (especially to Branson), country music, playing cards, and her dogs Angie and Ringo.\nSurvivors include children Leslie Dean and wife Melissa of Daphne, AL, Terry Dean and wife Rhonda of Woodland Park, CO, and Debbie Kralik and husband Barry of Creston, IA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Anton Oltman; husband Glen Dean (2003); daughter in law Laura Dean; and 1 great grandson.\nFuneral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Mark Schutt officiating. Interment in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. The body will lie from 1-8:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 AM-2:00 PM Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society with the funeral home in charge.
