DeOliver L. Wilson Obituary (1924 - 2012)

DeOliver L. Wilson, age 88 years, of Wymore died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. He was born January 20, 1924 at Wymore where he lived his entire life. DeOliver was a 1942 graduate of Wymore High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from January 22, 1944 to April 30, 1946. Following his discharge he was employed by Hoover Universal in Beatrice. DeOliver married Joyce Brockie on July 16, 1949 at the Wymore Church Of Christ parsonage. He was a brakeman for the Burlington-Northern Railroad from 1952 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Wymore Church Of Christ where he served as a deacon. DeOliver was over a 60 year member of Anderson Post #25 of the American Legion at Wymore, and had also been a member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Club. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, riding his Harley, traveling, coin collecting, and working in his shop at home. He was also a loyal Nebraska Cornhuskers Football Fan. DeOliver is survived by his wife, Joyce; by two grandchildren, Lance Volle and his fiancee, Aimee; and Tammi White and her husband Les, all of Beatrice; by eight great grandchildren, Christopher, Brooke, Brienna, Brendan, Anissa, Wade, Jordan, and Wesley; by a brother, Oscar Wilson and his wife Al Jean of Yuma, Arizona; by a sister-in-law, Carol Wilson of Blue Springs; and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard J. and Texie (Mast) Wilson; by his daughter, Deanna Volle on 7/26/2005; by three brothers, Willard, Jr; Floyd, and Francis Wilson; by a brother-in-law, Lynn Brockie; and by a niece, Jennifer Fulton. Funeral service will be a 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at the Wymore Church Of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt and Gail Portenier officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the Blue Springs Cemetery by Anderson Post #25. Visitation will be at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with his family receiving friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.; and then at the church one hour preceding the service.
