Delvin D. Koch Obituary (1961 - 2015)

Delvin D. Koch, 53 years of age, of Beatrice passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born on June 28, 1961 in Beatrice to Darrel and Carolyn (Shotsman) Koch. He was a 1980 graduate of Beatrice High School and received his BA degree from Doane College in 2001. Delvin had been employed at the Beatrice Community Hospital for 2 years and then started working at the Beatrice State Developmental Center in 1980 as a Direct Support Staff member and worked his way to being named as CEO on December 19, 2012. He was currently still serving in that capacity. Delvin and Melissa McKinnon were married on April 13, 1996. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Beatrice; and the BSDC Friends and Family group and the IDAN organization. He enjoyed working in his yard, was a Red Sox fan, enjoyed following NASCAR (especially Jeff Gordon), and collected watches. Delvin especially enjoyed attending the activities of his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife Melissa; mother Carolyn Koch; sister Bernita Morgan and children Shane, Shawn and wife Christie and kids Lexi, Cara, and Cooper, and Shad Morgan and fiance Amanda and kids Anna and Aiden; sister Kari McPeek and fiance Mike Ramsey and children Laci Kleveland and husband Chad and kids Jordan and Carson, and Tara McPeek; brother Rod Koch and wife Lori and children Erika Clark and husband Greg and kids Hayden and Payton, and Kendra Hausman and husband Jacob; sister Cammie Hellmer and husband Terry and children Marshal, Hunter and Skyler; sister Connie Heidbrink and husband Dave and children Jenni Bernhardt and Nick Unvert and kids Riley, Bryce, Trevin, and Carsten, Tara Hanshaw and husband Frank, and Kacie Heidbrink; sister Patty Kaufman and husband Paul and children Rick Kaufman and fiance Rachel and kids Moonshine and Elizabeth, and Lexi Kaufman; and by brother in law Mark Pethoud and wife Amy and children Jordan and Jace. Delvin was preceded in death by his father Darrel Koch; and parents in law Virgil and Rhoda Pethoud. Memorial services (casual dress preferred) will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 2, 2015 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Reverend Greg Gabriel officiating. Burial of his ashes will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery near Pickrell, NE at a later date. Public visitation will be held from 1-8:00 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 4-6:00 Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 AM Monday at the church.
