Delbert G. McMurray Obituary (1937 - 2013)

Delbert G. McMurray, 76 years of age, of Adams, NE passed away at the St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was born on April 9, 1937 at Burn, KS to Charles and Geraldine (Morrow) McMurray. He was a 1955 graduate of Honey Creek High School near Dawson, NE. Delbert served his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Delbert and Lorna Koehler were married on August 12, 1958 at Humboldt, NE. and they moved to Adams in 1967. He had been employed at the Adams elevator from 1967 until he retired as the manager in 1999, and then was employed at the Beatrice Country Club. He was a member of the Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln and former member of the American Lutheran Church in Adams. Delbert enjoyed gardening, sports, and especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Lorna; 4 children, Candy Blecha and husband Marvin of Humboldt, Kelley Thiemann and husband Dwight of Firth, Eric McMurray and wife Angie of Odell, and Kyle McMurray and wife Darci of Hickman; 9 grandchildren; and sister Ann Stevicks and husband Bill of Dawson. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Geraldine (Morrow) McMurray; step mother Eloise McMurray; and brother Charles Dean McMurray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Sheridan Lutheran Church at 70th and Old Cheney in Lincoln with Reverend Rhonda Bostrom officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 P.M. Thursday at the Highland Cemetery in Adams. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 11-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams with the family greeting friends from 6:30-8:00 P.M., and at the church one hour preceding the service on Thursday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Lawrence and Janie Oltman in charge.
