Dean Francis Scheideler Obituary (1923 - 2015)

Dean Francis Scheideler, 91 years of age, of Blue Springs passed away at his home Monday morning, January 12, 2015. He was born on September 27, 1923 at Wymore to Herbert and Josephine (Hoefling) Scheideler and was a graduate of Wymore High School. Dean married Maxine Weir on April 14, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore. He was employed for 17 years by Burlington Railroad as an agent/telegrapher, and then was a rural letter carrier until his retirement in 1983. Dean served his country in the United States Army as Private 1st Class from March 24, 1943 until January 9, 1946. He was a medic in southern France and the Rhineland in the European Theater. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore; Knights of Columbus; and the Wymore American Legion for 61 years. Dean enjoyed reading, woodworking, and playing billiards. Dean is survived by 2 sons, William Scheideler and wife Margaret of Lincoln, and Joseph Scheideler of Blue Springs; 2 daughters Colette Scheideler of Meridian, ID and Julie Scheideler of Blue Springs; 3 grandchildren Juliana McCall and husband Mark, Dean Scheideler, and Jessica Craig; 2 great grandchildren Magdeline and Travis McCall; brother Dale Scheideler and wife Norma of Wymore; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Josephine (Hoefling) Scheideler; and wife Maxine (1997). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wymore with Father Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wymore. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10-9:00 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore and at the church one hour preceding the service. A memorial has been established to the St. Giannas Home in Lincoln with the funeral home in charge.
