Charley L. Norris, 82 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Bryan Health Center East in Lincoln Thursday evening, December 14, 2018. He was born on April 20, 1935, lived in an orphanage for several years before moving to the Beatrice State Developmental Center in 1943.\n \nCharley attended the Rat Pack homeroom, worked at Bear Creek, participating in Music Enrichment, Catholic Services, Chapel Services, swimming, and recreational activities. He enjoyed interacting with staff and peers, and greeting everyone he saw. Charley loved to play games- such as checkers and cards, sending/receiving letters from his friends at the live and learn club, listening to music, and going on trips. Charley was a former member of Cornhusker Scouts- enjoying the annual camp outings.\n \nCharley leaves to mourn his many friends, the 3070 (412) staff at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, and his long time guardian Verdella Vetrovsky of Beatrice.\n \nMemorial services will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the All Faith's Chapel on the Beatrice State Developmental Center campus with Verla Dorn officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.
