Blanda L. Zimmerman Obituary (1916 - 2013)

Blanda L. Zimmerman, 96 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center Wednesday night, February 20, 2013. She was born on September 10, 1916 near Beatrice to Eilert and Emilie (Flesner) Buss. Blanda married Arthur H. Zimmerman on June 14, 1939 and they lived on a farm 6 miles southwest of Beatrice until moving into Beatrice in 1972. She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beatrice and enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing. Survivors include her son Garold Zimmerman and wife Margaret of Beatrice; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and sister Leota Urbani and husband William of Foster City, CA. Blanda was preceded in death by her parents Eilert and Emilie (Flesner) Buss; husband Arthur (1989); son LeRoy Zimmerman and his wife Arbanna; 4 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Reverend Josh Hillman officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. The body will lie in state Sunday from noon-8:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding the service on Monday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Monday at the church. A memorial has been established to the church with the funeral home in charge.
