Betty J. Zulek, age 89 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 24, 2021 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society. She was born in Neosho, Missouri on September 11, 1931 to Leander D. and Nellie K. (Leach) Ware. She attended school until the 8th grade in Phillipsburg, MO. Betty managed a couple bars, where she was known for her hamburgers, and worked at the Beatrice Community Hospital in the laundry department. She adored her dog, Buffy and all things Tweetie Bird. She also enjoyed old country music, watching Westerns, bowling, and fishing.\nBetty is survived by her children, Carol McCann of Fremont, NE, JoAnne Ames and husband Gary of Wymore, Karen VanLaningham and husband Danny of Beatrice, Jimmey Nyberg and significant other Susan Baker of Falls City, NE, Charles Dickinson of Pendleton, OR, and Robert Dickinson and wife Robin of Wymore; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; brother, Richard Ware and wife Elsie of Lebanon, MO; lots of nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mae and Wilma; brothers, Pat and Junior; grandsons, Chad Dickinson, Scott Ames, and Christopher VanLaningham.\nA funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. A family prayer service will begin at 2:15 PM. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
