Arthur W. Weber Obituary (1932 - 2014)

Arthur W. Weber, 81 years of age, of Adams, NE passed away at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams Tuesday afternoon, September 30, 2014. He was born on October 11, 1932 near Firth, NE to H.B. and Emma (Busch) Weber. He attended the Sherman Center grade school and was a graduate of Wymore High School. Arthur and Janet Rapp were married on June 16, 1955 in Adams and to this union two children were born, Kurt Arthur and Shari Beth. Arthur served his country in the United States Army from February 16, 1954 until February 15, 1956. He had been employed in maintenance for Amoco Oil Co. in Nebraska and Iowa for 25 years; worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads; and then farmed following his retirement. He had lived in Beatrice and Adams most of his life, and had lived in Greenfield and Cedar Rapids Iowa. He was a member of the Adams United Methodist Church, and the Adams American Legion. Arthur loved farming, hunting (especially Elk), traveling, and taking pictures. Survivors include his wife Janet; son Kurt Weber and wife Verdella of Beatrice; daughter Shari Havens of Fremont, NE; 6 grandchildren Cory Weber and wife Amy, Kelly Speakman, Michelle Ruzicka and husband Chad, Bo Havens, Clarie Studley and husband Brett, and Matthew Eggert and fiance Clara Fynbu; 12 great grandchildren; brothers Orville Weber of Adams, Calvin Weber and wife Alvira of Wymore, and Dale Weber and wife Sharon of Lincoln; sisters LaVerna Klein of Adams, and Margery Ann VanEngen and husband Wayne of Adams; and sisters in law Shirley Hestermann of Adams, Beth VanGent and husband Dale of Omaha, and Bonnie VanEngen and husband Floyd of Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents H.B. and Emma (Busch) Weber; brothers John, Chris, Rolly, Harold, Martin, Earl, Lester, and Lyle Weber and their spouses; sisters Gertrude Dissmeyer and Bertha Schmidt; sisters in law Marylee Weber and Marjorie Weber; brothers in law Albert Klein and Glenn Hestermann; and parents in law Lorin and Maxine Rapp. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 3, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Adams wife Reverend Rob Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Adams. Military graveside services will be provided by the Adams American Legion. The body will lie in state Thursday from 2-9:00 and Friday from 9-noon at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams with the family greeting friends from 6:30-8:00 Thursday, and at the church one hour preceding the service. A memorial has been established to the Adams Rescue Unit and Gold Crest Retirement Center with Lori Williams and Marlene Veerhusen in charge.
