Arbanna E. Christ Obituary (1920 - 2011)

Arbanna E. Christ, 91 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center on Friday morning, September 10, 2011. She was born on April 5, 1920 in Beatrice to Tom and Emily (Schiermeyer) Oden and lived in Beatrice her entire life. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Arbanna and Eugene "Gene" Christ were married on October 29, 1961 in Marysville, KS. She worked at the Market Street Grocery in Beatrice for 40 years, until it's closure in 1970, and then worked in the Salvation Army Store for many several years. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and had been involved in the Home League. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, collecting dolls, Kansas City Royals baseball, writing and receiving letters and post cards, and scrapbooking articles out on newspapers. Arbanna especially loved her nephews and their families, Shirley Temple, her dog Pooch and her cat, and taking car rides of any distance. Survivors include her brother Walt Oden and wife DeLoris of Beatrice; sisters in law Janice Oden, Doris Riepenkroger, both of Beatrice, and Clarice Christ of Choctaw, OK.; and nephews Charles Oden and wife Barbara of Lincoln, Duane Oden, Richard Oden, and Gary Oden, all of Beatrice, Ted Oden and wife Melody of Beatrice, Morris Oden and wife Diane of Fairbury, Dan Oden of Auburn, Wesley Oden and wife Lois of Beatrice, Keith Oden and wife Jackie of Firth; and Chris Teet, Daniel Teet, Robert Teet and Gerry Teet; many great and great great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Emily (Schiermeyer) Oden; husband Eugene "Gene" Christ (3-7-2011); brothers Charles and Roy Oden; nephew Scott Oden; and brother in law Keith Christ. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Doyle Karst officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen home Cemetery in Beatrice. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 2-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 7-8:00, and Monday until the time of the service.
