Alice F. Layman, age 71 of Wymore passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2019 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. She was born in Beatrice on July 28, 1947 to Melvin "Shorty" and Berneice (Cooley) Ames. She was a 1967 graduate of Wymore High School. Alice married Elbert "Turk" Layman on January 17, 1970. She worked many years as a caretaker for the elderly and disabled for the State of Nebraska and enjoyed cross stitch, quilting, doing crafts, painting and baking - especially around the holidays. She was an active member of the Blue Springs Methodist Church.\nThose left to mourn her passing are her children, Merel Layman and wife Christine of California, Rebecca Davidson and husband Tom of O'Neill, and Dawn Warnsing and husband Doug of Beatrice; daughter-in-law, Michelle Layman of Beatrice; grandchildren, Andrew, Megan, Alyssa, Dustin, Thomas, Devon, Brittney, Taylor, Chelsea, Zach, Mark, Adam, Tiffany, Jacob, Tyler, Lexis, and Breanna; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Gary Ames and wife Joanne of Wymore and Olen Ames and wife Kathy of Beatrice; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert (2012); her parents Melvin "Shorty" and Berneice Ames (2013); and son Rodney (2018).\nFuneral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday June 3, 2019 at the Blue Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Lori Miller officiating. A family prayer service will begin at 12:45 PM. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 1-8 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 5-8 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. A memorial has been established to the Blue River Area Agency on Aging and the Blue Springs United Methodist Church with the funeral home in charge.
