Alan Wayne Dunn, 80 years of age, of DeWitt passed away at his home on Monday morning, January 11, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1940 in DeWitt to Elbert & Mildred (Hains) Dunn. He was baptized and confirmed at the DeWitt Methodist Church. Alan grew up on the family farm where he helped daily with livestock chores and farming. He was a member of the DeWitt FFA, basketball/track teams and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1958.\nAlan married his childhood sweetheart, Janice J. Schuerman on June 19, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 19, 2020. Alan worked at B&C Steel in Lincoln, Petersen Manufacturing in DeWitt for 38 years and farmed part-time for his father-in-law. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on several committees. He was a past member of the Beatrice Eagles Club.\nAlan loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, playing cards and grilling.\nSurvivors include his wife Janice; daughter Patricia Parde and husband Dwight of Prairie Grove, AR; son Lyle Dunn of DeWitt; grandchildren Tyson (Molly) Parde, Lynne (Cody) Andrews, Brett (Kylie Steiner) Dunn, Lauren (Josh) Harrison, and Trevor (Madelyne) Dunn; great grandchildren Conner, Tylie, Kellen, Gus, Gavin, Amelia, Adelyn, Maddox, Micah, Maverick, Ryker & Roman; and brother Gary (Eloise) Dunn of Beatrice.\nAlan was preceded in death by his parents Elbert & Mildred Dunn; infant brothers Lyle Eugene and Roger Dunn; parents in law Harvey & Esther Schuerman; brother-in-law Donald Wattjes; and daughter in law Shelley Dunn.\nCelebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt with Reverend Travis Panning officiating. The service will be Livestreamed on the church Facebook page. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place. Masks and social distancing will be required for the services. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 PM Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family with the funeral home in charge.
